What’s a princess to do when a dragon burns down her castle and steals her fiancé? If you’re Princess Elizabeth, you don’t wait for a hero, you become one.
Hastings College theatre’s honorary, Alpha Psi Omega (APO), invites audiences of all ages to its annual production for youth, “The Garbage Bag Princess.” Performances are Saturday, April 25, and Sunday, April 26, at 2:00 p.m. in Scott Studio Theatre (806 N. Turner Avenue).
Written by College Chaplain Rev. Doodle Harris and based on the classic children’s book “The Paper Bag Princess” by Robert Munsch, this reimagined tale follows Princess Elizabeth as she stands up to the dragon that burned down her castle in order to rescue Prince Ronald.
Along the way, the audience meets Princess Victoria and Prince Sam as they learn their royal duties, while Queen Eloise and Queen Frances prepare for a royal wedding.
Tickets are free and open to the public, and APO is giving away 25 copies of the original Robert Munsch book to children at each show. Reservations are recommended, and can be completed by emailing tickets@hastings.edu.
