The Hastings College Jazz Festival began in the early 1970s and continues today as an important educational and musical event in Nebraska. The Festival brings great jazz artists from around the country to the Hastings College campus each year. We've hosted Clark Terry, Marian McPartland, Dominic Spera, Buddy Baker, Rich Matteson, Joey and Tony Gulizia, Pat Harbison and the Doug Talley Quartet, among many other wonderfully talented individuals.
During the Festival, middle school and high school bands from across the state perform and are adjudicated and encouraged by exceptional jazz educators. There is a $125 fee per band to participate in the Festival.
The 2016 Hastings College Jazz Festival is scheduled for April 4, 2016.
The Jazz Festival Concert will be April 5, 2016, at 7:30 p.m. at French Memorial Chapel on campus. There is no cost to attend the concert.
