Dr. Ingrid Bego

Dr. Bego comes to Hastings College from teaching at the University of Wisconsin, Green Bay. Originally from Albania, she received her undergraduate degree in Political Science, German and Spanish from Washburn University. She received her MA and PhD in Political Science (with distinction) from Washington State University in 2011.

Dr. Bego’s research interests focus on issues of democratization, gender and politics, global governance and public policy. More particularly in her work, she seeks to understand the effect of democratization and European Union membership on gender equality policy in post-communist Europe. Her work has been published in journals such as Political Research Quarterly and Journal of Women, Politics and Policy. In July of 2015, her book entitled “Gender Equality Policy in the European Union: A Fast Track to Parity for the New Member States” was published by Palgrave MacMillan.

In her free time Dr. Bego loves to travel, try new foods, learn new languages and attempt to play the clarinet.
