Dr. Mountford is Director of Choral Activities at Hastings College and conductor of The Hastings College Choir. After graduating from Hastings College he taught public school music, speech, and theatre in Nebraska; toured America as a professional singer and choral director with Fred Waring's Pennsylvanians; and was a vocal coach and consultant for the Walt Disney Company's Florida and California theme parks. Dr. Mountford earned degrees in Music Education from Hastings College, and in Choral Conducting from the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida and from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
He returned to Hastings College from Indiana, where, on the graduate faculty of Ball State University, he taught graduate and undergraduate courses in choral music and entertainment arts, and served as producer/director of the critically acclaimed Ball State University Singers, "America's Number One Collegiate Entertainment Organization."
At Hastings College, Dr. Mountford teaches courses in conducting, choral arranging, choral music education, and entertainment arts. In addition he supervises special student projects in composition, music history, and literature. He serves as advisor and mentor for former students and colleagues around the country, and each year, as co-founder of the High School Choral Leadership Workshops, chair of the Nebraska High School Honor Choir, choral clinician for All-State Prep Day, and as an active member of the Nebraska Choral Directors Association, he continues to share a world of experience, expertise, and insight with countless students and teachers statewide.
