Nationals slate set for Bronco Forensics team

Propelled by a first place finish at the 2014 Battle for the Capital on March 1-2, 2014, in Lincoln, Neb., and solid performances at the District IV Tournament March 7-8, 2014, in Eau Claire, Wis., the Hastings College Bronco Forensics team is excited its first of two national competitions: the 2014 American Forensics Association National Individual Events Tournament (AFA-NIET). To the April 4-7, 2014, tournament in Phoenix, Ariz., the Broncos will take 43 events.

Hastings College Music to host Jill Anderson’s Celtic Cabaret

Start celebrating St. Patrick’s Day early with Celtic music! The Hastings College Department of Music will host Jill Anderson,as she performs her Celtic Cabaret, a sampling of Irish music, history, poetry, storytelling and humor. The concert is scheduled for Tuesday, March 11 at 7:30 p.m. in Perkins Auditorium in Fuhr Hall (723 E. 9th St.).  The performance is free and open to the public.

Hastings College Summerstage auditions scheduled for 'Diamond Studs—The Life of Jesse James (A Saloon Musical)'

The Hastings College Theatre Arts Department is pleased to announce its summer production “Diamond Studs—The Life of Jesse James (A Saloon Musical).” College auditions for the production will take place on March 13, 2014, at 6 p.m. in the Scott Studio Theatre (806 N. Turner Ave.) Community auditions will take place the following Saturday, March 15, 2014, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Scott Studio Theatre.

Bronco speakers win at home

The Hastings College Bronco Forensics team won the second day of the Bronco Bash, a tournament held February 22-23, 2014, at Hastings College and hosted by the team and HC Forensics Alumni. Individual results follow.

On March 1-2, 2014, the Bronco Forensics team will travel to Lincoln, Neb., for the 2014 Battle for the Capital Swing – the second to last tournament of the regular season. The team is gearing up for the first of two national competitions in April: the 2014 American Forensics Association National Individual Events Tournament (AFA-NIET)  to be held in Phoenix, Ariz.

Kimmel to speak on the role of men during Women’s History Month

Michael Kimmel, an acclaimed author and researcher on men and masculinity in today’s world, headlines activities for Women’s History Month at Hastings College. On Wednesday, March 12 at 7 p.m. in French Memorial Chapel (800 N. Turner Ave.), he will present “Mars, Venus, or Planet Earth?

Broncos take third at the 2014 Zombie Apocalypse forensics tournament

On February 8-9, 2014, the Hastings College Bronco forensics team finished third in the 2014 Zombie Apocalypse in Hutchinson, Kans., hosted by Hutchinson Community College and Sterling College. Individual honors went to

Broncos win Flatland Fiesta tournament

The Hastings College Forensics team won the 2014 Flatland Fiesta at Laramie County Community College in Cheyenne, Wyo., which Hastings College co-hosted with Laramie County Community College. The tournament was held February 1-2, 2014.
