Local Lambda Pi Eta chapter earns national recognition

For the second time in five years, Hastings College’s Phi Omega Chapter of Lambda Pi Eta has earned the Chapter of the Year Award. In addition to the 2015 Chapter of the Year Award, the College’s chapter garnered the honor in 2012.

Lambda Pi Eta, the national honorary for students who are dedicated to the study of human communication, has more than 450 active chapters throughout the United States. The award will be presented at the National Communication Association Convention in Las Vegas, Nevada, on November 21, 2015.

Among the criteria for the award are the chapter’s commitment to encouraging professional development among communication studies majors, stimulating interest in the major and fostering outstanding academic achievement in the field of communication studies. Hastings College’s chapter provides mock interviews and tutoring for communication studies majors, utilizes social media to facilitate discussions about the major and presents undergraduate research papers at national conferences.

In 2008, the Phi Omega Chapter was recognized as Outstanding Rookie Chapter. For additional information about Lambda Pi Eta contact Dr. John Perlich at jperlich@hastings.edu or 402-461-7706.
