Laura is a native Nebraskan who comes to Hastings College after graduate study in Manhattan, Kan., and research in Chicago. Laura earned her Bachelor of Science in Sociology from the University of Nebraska at Kearney in 2006. She earned a Master in Sociology from Kansas State University in 2008, a Graduate Certificate in Women’s Studies in 2009 and received her PhD in Sociology from Kansas State University in August 2013.
Her research and teaching interests include criminology, inequalities, gender and intersectionality, social movements, political sociology and violence against marginalized people. She has published articles on social networks, gendered organizations and street harassment. Her most recent project is a study of street harassment and fear of violence.
