You'll get a Degree — Plus
At Hastings you’ll certainly become an expert in your major. Yet the value of a Hastings education goes well beyond that. We’re a premier liberal arts school, which means you’ll take classes across campus in many different disciplines so you’ll graduate with a broad academic background that stimulates your intellectual curiosity and excitement. This is certainly important for life-long learning.
It also means you’ll be mentally flexible, an excellent communicator, a creative thinker, able to manage and solve problems and answer the kinds of questions you can’t Google. These are exactly the skills employers and graduate schools want – and it’s why so many employers have said (and said) they prefer graduates with a liberal arts education.
A Best Buy
We recognize college is an investment. It’s why we work so hard to make Hastings affordable, something that’s been recognized by Barron’s, who has named Hastings a “Best Buy in College Education.” Washington Monthly ranked Hastings 14th among
350 schools across the country and named us a “Biggest Bang for the Buck” school. Last year we awarded nearly $14 million in scholarships and grants, plus our students received another $1.7 million in federal and state grants and nearly $600,000 in grants and scholarships from other organizations. Those are incredible figures for a campus our size – it’s how we invest in good students like you – and make Hastings an affordable, sensible option.
We're the Right Size
With about 1,200 students and an offering of more than 60 majors, Hastings College is the perfect size to give you the individual attention you appreciate and the education you need to succeed in a career and in life. Our superb faculty simply love to teach! They’re national-caliber professors who come from some of the finest graduate programs across the country. They’re smart, resourceful and since they don't need to oversee grad students, their sole focus is encouraging and supporting you.
We Bring the Action
Hastings students are involved – in athletics, band, choir, art, theatre, clubs and student government. They are volunteers in schools and churches, they deliver food to those in need, they clean parks, coach youth teams and serve as mentors.
It’s an incredible place and point of pride for the campus. It's what makes Hastings, "Hastings."
