Dr. Tang joined Hastings in 2022. His early interest in language studies led him to a study abroad opportunity at Winona State University in Minnesota in 2013. A calculus course he took out of curiosity fascinated him in a way he had never before felt with mathematics. He then earned his B.S. in Mathematics from Winona State and both his M.S. and Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Iowa. His doctoral work lies in algebra, specifically in ring and module theory. He is also intrigued by topics in number theory and mathematical cryptography.
Having completed both the Graduate Certificate in College Teaching and the Certificate in Online Teaching from Iowa, Dr. Tang is fully committed to teaching and supporting students across the campus. He is excited about mathematics and dedicated to helping students see its beauty both inside and outside the classroom. He enjoys teaching students the fundamentals of logical reasoning in mathematics. In addition to teaching various courses in the math department, he supervises undergraduate mathematical competitions and organizes preparation sessions for these events.
