Dr. Matthew Rush

Visiting Assistant Professor of Music

Matthew Rush is a percussionist and educator from Meadville, Pennsylvania. He is currently serving
as Visiting Assistant Professor of Music at Hastings College in Hastings, NE. Before moving to
Hastings he served for two years as Interim Lecturer of Percussion in the Glenn Korff School of Music
at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln. Dr. Rush has also taught at Allegheny College, Norwin High
School, V.R. Eaton High School, and years as a percussion/band director in the Garland Independent
School District in Garland, TX.

Matthew holds degrees from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln (DMA, 2018), Texas Christian
University (MM, 2008), and Indiana University of Pennsylvania (BS Music Ed, 2006). He has
presented at the Nebraska Music Educators Association conference and been a part of performances
at the Texas Music Educators Association conference in San Antonio and Percussive Arts Society
International Convention in Indianapolis. He has adjudicated contests in Texas, Nebraska, and
Pennsylvania. Matthew is proud to perform on his Malletech Imperial Grand Marimba and Majestic
Prophonic Walnut Concert Snare Drum.
