A 1982 graduate of Hastings College, John earned his J.D. at the University of Nebraska College of Law. He is Senior Associate General Counsel for the University of Nebraska. He is responsible for handling and offering advice on labor and employment, faculty affairs and student affairs matters. John has more than three decades of legal experience, having represented public and private employers in a broad array of labor and employment matters in private law practice. John also served as the chair of the Board of Directors of a health system with an academic medical center; as the chair of the Labor Relations and Employment Law Section of the Nebraska State Bar Association; and as the Administrative Partner of his law firm. John served on the HC Board of Trustees from 2013 to 2019 and returned in July 2024.
