Mike Bowland ’81

Retired 2025

Mike Bowland ’81 retired as Director of Legacy Development for the Hastings College Foundation effective January 2025.

Since joining the Foundation in 2018, Mike has traveled across the United States, cultivating relationships with and soliciting donations from hundreds of alumni and major donors. You’ve likely seen his smiling face on Facebook and LinkedIn posts as he engaged with alumni and friends, learned the stories of their lives, and discovered how they became associated with Hastings College.

In addition to serving as a gift officer, Mike took over the position of administrator of the long-standing Bronco Gridiron Club in 2021, a group that connects current and past Bronco football players, fans, and team supporters. Along with the help of Club Ambassadors and 200-plus other members, significant dollars were raised for the football program.

“It has been a joy and privilege meeting alumni on the road and back on campus for events like Homecoming, Golden Graduation, and Gridiron Club golf tournaments,” Mike said. “Thank you for welcoming me into your homes and businesses and investing in future Bronco alumni. I cherish the friendships I’ve made and look forward to seeing you at Hastings College events in the years to come.”

Prior to joining the Foundation, Mike was an independent sales representative for 30 years with Jostens, a manufacturer of memorabilia, including graduation regalia, announcements, diplomas, class rings, and championship rings for high schools and colleges.

He graduated from Hastings College in 1981 with a bachelor of music degree. In 2024, he was named to the Hastings College Athletic Hall of Fame as a member of the 1978 and 1980 football teams, both of which went 8-1 and were NIAC champions.

Mike and his wife, Janet, are the parents of a son, Blake, of Denver, Colorado, a 2015 Hastings College graduate, and a daughter, Sierra, of Daytona Beach, Florida.
