Roger Doerr’s dedication to Hastings College has spanned more than four decades, with 37 years as professor of business and economics, 10 years as head coach of the men’s golf team and seven years as president of the Hastings College Foundation. He was named the Carnegie Foundation Nebraska Professor of the Year in 1995 and the Men’s Great Plains Athletic Conference Golf Coach of the Year in 2006. Upon his retirement in 2013, Doerr was awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Business Administration and was inducted into the Hastings College Pro Rege Society in 2014 for his outstanding contributions.
A current member of the Hastings College Board of Trustees and secretary/treasurer of the Foundation Board, Doerr also serves as president of the Mary Lanning Healthcare Foundation and is a member of the First Presbyterian Church Foundation Board of Trustees, Advisory Board of TOBA, Inc., Hastings Community Theatre Board of Directors and represents Hastings College on the Council of Independent Colleges in Nebraska.
Doerr received his bachelor of science degree in accounting and economics from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln and his master of business administration degree from Creighton University with additional graduate work at UNL, the University of Wisconsin, Illinois State University and the University of Michigan. He has previously held both CPA and CMA certificates.
Doerr and his wife, Karen (Gilmore), a 1975 Hastings College graduate, reside in Hastings. In his spare time, he is a self-proclaimed news junkie and baseball fan and enjoys golf, attending movies and N scale model railroads.
