The Hastings College chapter of Alpha Chi, the all-discipline collegiate academic honor society, inducted 12 students earlier this month.
The purpose of Alpha Chi is to promote academic excellence and exemplary character among college and university students and to honor those who achieve such distinction. Students from all academic disciplines in the top 10 percent of their class are invited to join.
This year’s Alpha Chi inductees are listed below.
- Angela Amaya of Hastings, Nebraska, a junior majoring in music and secondary education
- Lauren Buscher of Bennington, Nebraska, a junior majoring in business administration
- Paige Dane of Hastings, Nebraska, a junior majoring in chemistry/pre-pharmacy
- Nickytha Georges of Nassau, The Bahamas, a junior double majoring in accounting and political science
- Cailey Hanson of Superior, Nebraska, a junior majoring in elementary education
- Danie Hoer of Omaha, Nebraska, a sophomore double majoring in accounting and business management
- Kyla Humphreys of Broomfield, Colorado, a junior double majoring in biology and business administration
- Katyn Kappler of Eagle, Nebraska, a junior with majors in biology and health systems
- Edward Pallotto of Centennial, Colorado, a junior majoring in business administration, Spanish and marketing
- Jaida Rowe of Lincoln, Nebraska, a junior majoring in biochemistry
- Dylan Shaw of Colorado Springs, Colorado, a junior majoring in music education and secondary education
- Hayden Thomason of Manhattan, Kansas, a junior majoring in business administration and accounting
Students with Alpha Chi membership help host campus activities, such as Alpha Chi Bronco Brain Buster and Academic Showcase.
The Hastings College chapter was established in 1949 by Frank Weyer and Ruth Harris. Weyer was dean of the College at the time and Harris was the librarian.
