The City of Hastings and Hastings College will conduct a program to celebrate Arbor day and the new designation of Hastings College as a Tree Campus USA on Friday, April 29, at 3:00 p.m.
The event will take place near the entrance to the Gray Center parking lot (1100 N. Elm Avenue); rain location is inside the Gray Center.
Jeff Hassenstab, director of Hastings Parks and Recreation Department, will preside, and Justin Evertson of the Nebraska State Arboretum will speak. Hastings College students, Gretchen Lainson ‘37 and Tree Board members will participate.
As part of the program, an American Hornbeam, the 2016 Tree of the Year, will be planted.
