Board of Trustees issue challenge match for end of year giving

The Hastings College Board of Trustees has issued a challenge match to alumni and friends of the College for end of year giving. The challenge means gifts of any size to the College’s 1882 Fund made before December 31 will be doubled dollar for dollar up to a total of $150,000.

kim dinsdale“Many of us attended Hastings College—or have family members who did—and understand how a Hastings College education opens doors of opportunity. We all feel a deep sense of gratitude to the College and want to give back however we can,” said Kim West Dinsdale, chair of the Hastings College Foundation Board of Directors and member of the Hastings College Board of Trustees.

In a letter to friends of Hastings College, she noted that every year, members of the Board donate to the 1882 Fund, the College’s annual giving fund, and this year the Board unanimously agreed to increase their individual annual gifts so they could issue the Board of Trustees challenge.

“If you have never made a gift to the 1882 Fund, please make a gift of any size and we’ll match it,” Dinsdale said. “If you are a current donor, please consider increasing the size of your gift and we will double its impact.”

Competition for new students is fierce among all institutions of higher learning—especially in Nebraska. As a private college, Hastings does not receive state funding, which means the College must work very hard to keep our tuition and academic offerings competitive.

Gifts of any size to the 1882 Fund can be made online at hastings.edu/give or by contacting the Hastings College Foundation at 800.775.2585 or ssearcey@hastings.edu.
