A Hastings College student will grace the stage at Perkins Auditorium of Fuhr Hall of Music (723 E. 9th St.) on Sunday, February 17 at 3 p.m. This recital is free and open to the public.
Margaret Gregory, a senior from Grand Island, Neb., will do a flute performance from the works by Blavet, Shinohara, Rivier, Kidde and Godard. Zachary Peterson who is from Omaha, Neb., will accompany her. Gregory is a graduate of Grand Island (Neb.) Senior High School and the daughter of Rev. Dr. Charles and Beth Ann Gregory. She is pursuing the Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education and in Flute Performance.
Gregory is the 2012-2013 Presser Scholar. The Theodore Presser Award is presented by Hastings College on behalf of the Theodore Presser Foundation. Established in 1928 by the Theodore Presser family and board of directors, the Presser Foundation has awarded grants since 1929 to students pursuing degrees in music.
The Hastings College Department of Music has awarded the Theodore Presser Award since 1930. The first recipient of the award was Gladys Frisch. In addition to a monetary award, each year’s recipient is added to a roster of previous recipients located in the Music Department’s Wall of Honor. The recipient of the award is selected by the music faculty.
