The Hastings College Forensics Team had another successful competition at Kansas State University October 7-8 for the Buffcats Swing hosted by Kansas State University and West Texas A&M University. The Broncos took second in team sweepstakes on the second day of the tournament, finishing strong during the competitive weekend.

- Maggie Rogers, a first-year student from Birmingham, Alabama, placed third in After Dinner Speaking and second in Dramatic Interpretation.
- Derek Monie, a first-year student from Arapahoe, Nebraska, placed seventh in Dramatic Interpretation.
- Daniel Trevithick, a first-year student from Denver, Colorado placed sixth in Program Oral Interpretation.
- Jesse McCollum, a first-year student from Kansas City, Kansas placed sixth in Duo Interpretation with Austin Heinlein, a junior from Hutchinson, Kansas.

The Hastings College forensics team continues a long-running tradition of national competitive success, placing in the top 20 at the American Forensics Association National Individual Events Tournament (AFA-NIET) for many of the past ten years. Most recently, Hastings College placed 12th at AFA-NIET 2017.
