Stop by Hastings College’s Art Gallery (711 E. 7th Street), where more than 30 vintage black light posters and several new black light works will be on display from March 3-April 5, 2013. Regular gallery hours are 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday-Friday. An opening reception will be held on Sunday, March 3 from 2-3 p.m. Both the gallery and the reception are free and open to the public.
Pat Nelsen ‘15 organized the show with assistance from other HC students and faculty.
“My show will bring attention to the dramatic transformation of color under black light,” said Nelsen. “Everyone will have an opportunity to contrast art from the past, represented by the vintage black light posters, with art from the present, created by ten artists using black light reactive material.”
To add to the exhibit’s grooviness, Nelsen plans to feature music from the 1960s and 1970s in the gallery throughout the show.
