Cici Velarde, a senior from Loveland, Colorado, majoring in marketing and communication studies, attended the convention and helped prepare and present a chapter strengthening session for all advisors and students.

“Attending this convention and sharing my voice on behalf of the Hastings College Alpha Chi chapter was a great experience. I was able to provide insight into our chapter’s rich history and traditions so that I could help other student officers create a great honorary organization on their own campus,” Velarde said.

Dr. Jessica Henry, the Hastings College Alpha Chi sponsor, presented with Velarde on the chapter development panel. Henry was also elected to a second term on the National Council. Only 14 faculty members across the country serve on the National Council.

“I am always so impressed with our students’ willingness to step up and take on challenges beyond what we ask of them in the classroom,” Henry said. “I was happy to have Cici as a co-presenter for a chapter development session at the national Alpha Chi convention. She did an amazing job representing the voices of students across the country. I was also honored to be elected to serve a second four-year term on the Alpha Chi National Council. Hastings College has a long and strong history with Alpha Chi.”
