Hastings College Music is hosting a Brass Day on Monday, April 21, for high school brass players, soloists and brass ensembles as they prepare for their district music contests or are just looking to improve.

Participants during the day will then join the Cathedral Brass in a mass brass ensemble concert at 7:30 p.m.
Details and a link for students to register is at hastings.edu/brassday.
“Brass Day is a fantastic opportunity for high school brass players to develop their skills and gain valuable coaching as they prepare for district contests,” said Dr. Louie Eckhardt, associate professor of music and director of bands. “We’re excited to bring together young musicians for a day of learning and community, culminating in a powerful mass brass ensemble concert with the Cathedral Brass.”
All events are in the Fuhr Hall of Music.
Note that parking for Fuhr Hall is by Lynn Farrell Arena (800 E. 12th Street), as the Fuhr lot is closed during construction of a new residence hall. A campus map is available at hastings.edu/maps. The arena is #27 and Fuhr Hall is #25, with a sidewalk going between the two.
Registration for students begins at 12:30 p.m. in Fuhr Hall, followed by lessons and coaching before a concert rehearsal at 5:00 p.m.
The Cathedral Brass Quintet is an active professional ensemble that performs throughout the state, and features Dan Sodomka on the tuba, Erin Beave and Louie Eckhardt on trumpet, Amy Schneider on horn and Nathan LeFeber on trombone.
