More than 200 high school students from 38 schools across Nebraska will be at Hastings College for the seventh annual Jackson Dinsdale Art Center Mural Competition on Wednesday, September 28.
Working as teams, high school students from each school will create 36 x 60 inch vinyl murals using paint, which will then be judged by Hastings College senior art majors. The creative theme for the competition is kept a secret and announced during the 10:00 a.m. welcome. It’s a challenging and fun event for students!
Teams design and create their artwork outdoors in the parking lot between the JDAC and Gray Center (1100 N. Elm Avenue).
The top three teams each receive a prize package of art supplies that each school can use. At the conclusion of the event, teams are allowed to take their murals to hang in their high schools.
