Hastings, Neb. – SummerStage, the Hastings College Department of Theatre’s new summer stock company, has announced the schedule for its inaugural summer run.
The musical classic “Little Shop of Horrors,” in which Hastings College students are joined by community actors and musicians, premiers Thursday, June 13 at 7:30 p.m. at the College’s Scott Studio Theatre (806 N. Turner Ave.). Additional performances are June 14, 15 and 16 at 7:30 p.m. and June 15 and 16 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $10 for general admission and $8 for seniors and students.

The Hastings College SummerStage singers can also be seen at Wine Styles (537 W. 2nd St.) in Hastings on Saturday, June 8 at 8:00 pm, where they will present A Musical Theatre Cabaret. Admission to the Wine Styles event is free.
Jim Fritzler, Chair of the Hastings College Theatre Department, said “Little Shop of Horrors” is the first step toward building SummerStage into a tradition that benefits the community and Hastings College students.
“One way Hastings College students can grow professionally is to experience summer stock theatre, and SummerStage is a great way to make that happen. By partnering with the community, we can expand the network of students and community members involved in the arts, creating an exciting partnership for Central Nebraska,” Fritzler said.

Musicians include Jacob Nienheuser on bass, Doyle Hanshaw on drums and Jim Fritzler on keyboard.
Johnny Johnson is Stage Manager for the production, while Annette M. Vargas is Scenic Designer, Bernie Tushaus is Lighting Designer and Margaret Marsh is Costume Designer.
