Middle and high school students from across central Nebraska showed off their History Day projects on campus for the district History Day competition recently.
This year’s theme for entries was “Turning Points in History,” and students presented projects on a variety of topics. Winners from each event advanced to the state competition.
Fourteen projects earned honors in their specific categories, with six students placing in the top three overall.
Ashlin George, Tom Tran and Yadriel Colindres Fonseca of Hastings Senior High School received first place overall with their group website, “Dropping Like Flies.”
Mackenzie Tate of Hastings Senior High School received second place overall for her individual exhibit, “Hisashi Ouchi: The Radioactive Man.”
Jaina Muth and Nataly Morales Rubalcava of Hastings Senior High School School earned third place overall with their group exhibit, “Filippo Brunelleschi and Linear Perspective.”
Madison Armenta of Hastings Middle School also earned third place overall with her individual exhibit, “We are the Ship, All Else the Sea.”
