The Hastings College Office of Student Life, Student Association and the SASA Crisis Center are sponsoring an event on the Hastings College campus called “Walk a Mile in Her Shoes.” Registration and check-in are 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 21, at Lynn Farrell Arena (800 E. 12th Street). The walk begins at 5:45 p.m. at the arena.
The event is a chance for men to wear high-heeled or female shoes and to actually “walk a mile in her shoes” while raising awareness on the causes and effects of sexual and domestic abuse against women. Men are asked to bring their own pair of women’s shoes to the event, and a limited number of t-shirts will be free for male participants.
Women are also encouraged to participate in the event either by walking with or cheering on men who are participating at various locations along the walk’s course.
While the event is free, a $5 donation is suggested to participate. Proceeds will go to the Hastings SASA Crisis Center in Hastings, which provides services to survivors of domestic and sexual violence.
Pre-registration is available online at goo.gl/2qjQvZ.
