Isaac Mertens has to worry about finals in this, his senior year at Hastings College. However, the accounting major doesn’t have to worry about finding a job. Before beginning this year, he had already signed an employment contract with an Omaha accounting firm where he’ll start working in August 2015.
To build the foundation for his first post-college job, Isaac participated in Hastings College’s Accounting Interview Day Program as a junior. He interviewed in a professional setting with seven organizations and received multiple summer internship offers. Ultimately, he chose ConAgra where he not only put his Hastings College education to work but also shared in service projects and social outings with fellow interns and staff.
Isaac has parlayed this experience into already securing an employment contract with an Omaha accounting firm where he will begin full-time employment in August 2015 – an adventure he feels prepared to begin thanks to Hastings College.
“Serving as the President of Professional Business Leaders has enabled me to meet and gain a ton of experience with seasoned business professionals, increasing my business acumen,” Isaac said. “I’ve learned about entrepreneurial skills, and the position has for allowed several networking opportunities.”
